“All My Children” is looking for a member of the United States military who has served in Iraq to play a part in an upcoming episode. The soap opera is seeking an Operation Iraqi Freedom service member to play an injured veteran on the television show. “All My Children” has initiated a broad search to fill the role and has invited soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines to contact the show’s New York casting director. The TV show is working with USA Cares, a nonprofit veterans’ support group that provides financial and other support to wounded soldiers and their families. The Department of Defense is also advising the show in order to promote realism. The casting call is not limited to only members of the military who were wounded in the war.
